Bridge estate cellar door – the stables

Released on 20/12/2012

Two years of scheming, refinancing, scrounging and high level dancing on hot coals... saw the 120 year old Hansen Stables relocated from Kings Road, Makauri, to our Bridge Estate Vineyard at Riverpoint Road Matawhero, a couple of months ago.

Despite their looks, the stables are beautifully built of solid heart Totara, Rimu and Kauri and have oodles of character.

What they don't have is a floor, latrines (see Gisborne District Council requirement for an ‘accessable' toilet), electricity or running water.

A mere bagatelle, we hear you say...

We had hoped to have the Cellar Door up and rustically running by Christmas, but must now reluctantly accept that completion will be a job for the new year.

If you are in Gisborne over the summer, and of pioneering spirit, please give us a call and we would be pleased to host you with a cold bottle or two in the Stables...take us as you find us.

Further updates in the coming months
